My First Game Dev Journey: Week 12

This week I’ve been focusing on getting Wwise working with Unreal Engine, and let me tell you, it definitely tested me.

It turns out the issue was (mostly) on my end. I had actually successfully linked Wwise to Unreal… just not to the correct project. I’d accidentally connected it to a demo game I’d worked on previously, which caused a lot of confusion when things weren’t behaving as expected.

After a fair bit of troubleshooting, the penny finally dropped and I realised what had happened. Once I reconnected everything to the correct project, boom, it worked!

That said, I’m still running into some inconsistencies. When placing emitters into the level, sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, which I’m still trying to figure out.

However, the positive is that I now have sound successfully integrated into my game, and it’s starting to feel much more alive, which is really exciting.

Next, I’ll be focusing on refining how audio is triggered and making the system more consistent.
