So begins a brand-new learning curve. Whether I succeed or not is yet to be determined, but I’m excited to embrace the journey ahead, even though I know it’s going to be a steep one.
Why I’m Doing This
I’ve set myself a pretty ambitious challenge: to create a game in Unreal Engine entirely on my own within the next 7 months. That might sound like a lot of time, but considering I have no experience with coding, game development, or even implementation and a few other projects to juggle along the way, I truly have no idea what I’m getting myself into. Right now, it feels like a great idea… though I’ll probably regret saying that later.
The Commitment
By writing this down and sharing it, I’ve basically trapped myself, I have to follow through now! But honestly, that’s the point. I want this blog to keep me accountable, and maybe even help someone else who’s just as new to all this as I am.
What to Expect
I’ll be sharing the good, the bad, and the completely ridiculous parts of this journey. Some days I’ll be celebrating a tiny victory, like getting a button to work. Other days I’ll be dramatically questioning why I ever thought this was a good idea. Either way, you’ll get the unfiltered version of what it’s like to dive into game development for the very first time.
The Goal
At the end of this, I’d love to have a game I can actually show off, even if it’s small, silly, or a little buggy. It’ll be mine, built from scratch, and that’s something I’ll be proud of.
So stick around if you want to see how this all plays out. It’s going to be messy, chaotic, and hopefully a whole lot of fun too.
